Day 2 of the Ovarian Cancer Awareness Yoga Challenge (09-13-2016)

Day 2 –  Presented by Anna @yogasloth (she’s a host & a sponsor). The pose is #Marjariasana or #SeatedCatCow

Sitting in #EasyPose with your hands on your knees or in front of you, take a deep breath in and open up your chest, pushing it forward and the shoulders back.  Then as you breathe out, round the shoulders and bring the chest in. If you have approval from your doctor, you may also do these poses from a table top or kneeling position.

This pose helps to increase circulation to the upper body, strengthens the spine, GI tract & female reproductive system. It can help with menstrual cramps, pain in the lower back and sciatica. As Anna stated, it may seem simple, but it really does SO much!

My outfit is from @pawpawyogawear (Tip Top top & Piegon pants); mala necklace is from @beadsbymelissa and my #RollsRoyceofYogaMats is from @liforme

Please make sure to honor your body and only do what you are comfortable with. If you are under a doctor’s care, please check with them first before attempting any of the poses.

#AWARENESS - From the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) #symptoms include:

Bloating
Pelvic or abdominal pain
Trouble eating or feeling full quickly
Urgent or often need to urinate

Other symptoms can include the following:

Fatigue

Upset stomach or heartburn
Back pain
Pain during intercourse
Constipation or menstrual changes

It is recommended that if any of these are new and last for more than 2 weeks you see your gynecologist. When symptoms are persistent and can seem like a “normal” problem, they can keep a woman from an early diagnosis. About 19% of ovarian cancer is diagnosed in the early stages.

See @mmaneevese for Day 3’s (Wednesday, 9/14) pose tomorrow night and refer to my page for information about the poses, ovarian cancer awareness, and if you don’t know who is posting for the day, come look at my page.  Haley’s story is still available by going to my bio and clicking the link…I will have all information in the links in a blog available to be referenced later.
